TVB Hong Kong (Scoop 2015) / Apple Daily HK interviewed Mr Lee Kuan Yew's domestic helper Mdm Ou Yang Huan Yan

Singapore first Prime Minster, Mr Lee Kuan Yew 李光耀 (1923 - 2015), passed away on
23-03-2015, 3.18 am at the age of 91. Mr Lee Kuan Yew was the father of Singapore. He was a far sighted political leader and the Architect of a modern Singapore. He was the founding Prime Minster of a country with limited resources that rise from a fledgling island nation being expelled from Malaysia to one rapid economic progress 1st world country. Fifty years ago some said Singapore cannot make it. But under Mr Lee Kuan Yew leadership, we did. This is the quote of  Mr Lee:
" I have spent my life, so much of it, building up this country. There's nothing more I need to do. At the end of the day, What have I got? A successful Singapore. What Have I given up? My Life" Mr Lee worked hard for fellow Singaporeans to enjoy comfortable life today. Thank You Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

TVB Hong Kong, Scoop 2015 and Apple Daily Hong Kong interviewed Madam Ou Yang Huan Yan 欧阳焕燕 in Shun De, 顺德, Guang Dong 广东,China 中国. Madam Ou Yang Huan Yan was the domestic helper to Mr Lee Kuan Yew's family. She came to Singapore from Shun De at the age of 18. She had being working with the Lee family for forty years. She retired in 1986 and returned to her home town.

Through the interview, we knew that Mr Lee Kuan Yew was a very hard working and busy person who spent most of his time in the office. Though Mr Lee appeared to look serious and in actual fact he was a kind and caring person.  Madam Ou Yang Huan Yan's duties were preparing meals for the family and taking care of his three young children, Mr Lee Hsien Loong 李显茏, Mr Lee Hsien Yang 李显杨 and Miss Lee Wei Ling   李伟玲. Among the three siblings, Miss Lee Wei Ling was closest to Madam Ou Yang. Wei Ling sent Madam Ou Yang a hand written greeting card when she moved back to China. At the time of interview, Madam Ou Yang was 97. She was looking healthy.

Madam Ou Yang Huan Yan also revealed that Mr Lee Kuan Yew was strict in discipline to his children to ensure that they will not go off track. Mr Lee Kuan Yew was educated in UK, he preferred western food, Malay food to Chinese food. He was fond of chilli.

Madam Ou Yang Huan Yan seldom talked to Mr Lee Kuan Yew as they did not share common topic. She said she knew nothing about politic. But she reiterated that the late PM was always courteous to his domestic servants and staff. He treated every of them as part of his family members.
