I went for the Chinese New Year factory outlet shopping on 28-1-2013. The outing was organised by the Paya Lebar Kovan CC, IT sub-club. The fee charged was $3.00 per person. The event was named i-experience & Woodlands factory. The morning half was going to the IDA X-Change Experience Centre at the Esplanade MRT shopping Mall. The outing fell on a Monday which was a working day, as such the participants were all senior citizens and retirees. The group lead by 2 staff from the CC left the Kovan Hup, former bus interchange (block 206 Hougang Street 21) at 10.00am. After a brief introduction at the IDA Experience Centre, the senior citizens were taught to make fish shape lantern using Chinese New Year red packets. The senior citizens were shown to the various latest IT technology and the application. How to search online for recipes to make pineapple tarts, lanterns and create e-greeting cards. They were shown a computer make-up soft ware, a 3D HD TV . A video conferencing set up. It was an eye opener to the senior citizens. Lunch was free and easy. We proceed to Woodland factory outlet shopping after lunch. The factory outlets were at Woodlands Loop / Terrace and Senoko Road/Avenue. We visited Fragrance 香味, Bee Cheng Hiang 美珍香, Kwong Cheong Thye 广祥泰, Soon Huat Marine, J&C Bakery, Bee Hwa Foodstuff, Thomson Foodstuff Mfg. The whole day outing ended at 5.50pm. I can tell from their smiling faces that all the seniors really enjoyed the i-experience and the factory outlet shopping event.
